Dog bites face of alleged sexual attacker at Colorado park, police say
DENVER (KDVR) – A man who tried to sexually assault a woman at a park in Fort Collins, Colorado, was bit on the face by a dog, with authorities later arresting him, according to police.
Police said a woman was “crying and telling a male to get off of her” when she called 911 Sunday evening, according to a release from Fort Collins Police Services.
Dispatchers used her phone’s location to send officers to Lee Martinez Park. When they found the woman near the center of the park, she pointed out a man walking behind her.
The woman reported that the man had attacked her, and she fought him off for 20 minutes to prevent a sexual assault. According to police, a dog helped her in the fight by biting the man in the face.
The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Seth Estabrooks, was taken into custody without incident and booked on the following counts:
- Second-degree assault strangulation
- Unlawful sexual contact with force or threat
- False imprisonment by force
Police said the woman had no relationship with Estabrooks, whom police described as “a transient from Boulder.”
The woman got medical support and a Patrol Crime Scene Investigator processed the suspect at the hospital, where he was treated for the dog bites.
