(NewsNation) — Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson is “doing great” after he suffered a reported health scare while on a flight on Sunday, according to reports.

The 57-year-old boxing legend had a medical emergency while aboard a flight from Miami and Los Angeles on Sunday, In Touch reported.

Tyson, who is scheduled to face social media influencer Jake Paul in an exhibition boxing match in July, was tended to by paramedics who boarded the flight to tend to the boxer, the report said.

“Thankfully, Mr. Tyson is doing great,” the boxer’s representatives said in a statement, according to ESPN.

The spokesperson said that Tyson had an ulcer flare-up and became nauseous about 30 minutes before the plane was scheduled to land in Los Angeles.

“He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him,” the statement said.

The representatives denied rumors that indicated that the flight was delayed due to Tyson’s medical episode.

Instead, the statement said the delay was caused by an issue with the aircraft’s air-conditioning system. In Touch reported that Tyson left the aircraft when the delay was announced and later reboarded once the flight was ready for departure.

The outlet reported that passengers received a message on their in-seat screen asking if any medical personnel were aboard the flight. Paramedics boarded the flight to tend to Tyson once the plane reached Los Angeles.

Tyson will be 58 by the time he faces Paul on July 20. The former heavyweight champion has not fought competitively for nearly 20 years. The bout will consist of eight two-minute rounds.
