CHICAGO (NewsNation Now) — As Thanksgiving comes to an end, many are now looking to start their holiday shopping. NewsNation’s Ashley Ketz took a look at this year’s hot tech gifts–some of them easier to snag than others.
“Tech is always hot, but especially in 2020 with us spending more time at home, having more of a staycation perhaps,” Tech expert Marc Saltzman told Ketz.
Saltzman boiled down some of the big tech categories for shopping this holiday season.
“Gaming is really really hot. The PS5, brand new and the Xbox series X are two new consoles that just debuted a couple of weeks ago,” he said.
But count yourself lucky if you get your hands on one. Both $499 dollar gaming consoles are in short supply.
PlayStation tweeted ahead of Black Friday:
“Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year.”
Other in demand products are also practical for 2020.
“There are millions of us now working and schooling from home. So computers have been super hot this year as well as web cameras, as we’re chatting through right now,” Saltzman said to Ketz.
From connecting with loved ones to connecting devices in your home, Saltzman says smart home tech is seeing year over year double digit growth, and these gadgets won’t break the bank, either.
For Black Friday and Cyber Monday we found smart speakers priced below $20.
“Of course, Wi-Fi thermostats and video doorbells and smart lighting and deadbolt locks and the list goes on and on,” Saltzman said.
While a lot of the big box stores are pretty accurate when it comes to shipping, experts say to build in a couple of extra days just to be safe.
