When are Social Security benefits being sent out?

(NewsNation) — People getting Social Security benefits can look forward to multiple payments in the last few months of the year — with an extra one for some in both August and November.

Social Security checks

Social Security checks are paid to people depending on when they were born.

Exceptions include children and spouses who receive benefits based on someone else’s work record. They get paid on the same day as the primary beneficiary.

If someone filed for benefits before May 1, 1997; their Medicare premiums are paid for by the state where they live; they receive a Supplemental Security Income payment; or they live in a foreign country, they could also get their payments on the 3rd of each month. People getting SSI payments because of disability, age or blindness should expect to receive them on the 1st.

Payments falling on a federal holiday or weekend will be issued on the weekday immediately before.
