Atlanta boy shot after being chased; police search for suspects

Surveillance video released by the Atlanta Police Department shows three assailants chasing after the boy and opening fire.

ATLANTA (NewsNation) — Authorities in Atlanta are searching for three male suspects who were captured on video chasing down and shooting an 11-year-old boy near a busy road.

The shooting was reported on Jan. 14 shortly after 6 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., on Atlanta’s southwest side. Officers found the boy injured with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Police said the boy was “alert, conscious, and breathing” before he was taken to a local hospital.

Surveillance video released by the Atlanta Police Department shows the 11-year-old boy running through an alley. Another camera angle shows the moment the three suspects cross a street in pursuit of him. Then, the suspects as seen pulling out handguns and firing at the boy, who tried to hide from them.

Police said the boy was shot twice.
