AMITE, La. (NewsNation) — A manhunt is underway for two Louisiana inmates who escaped the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Sunday.
Omarion Hookfin, 19, and Jamarcus Cyprian, 20, remained on the run Tuesday after escaping police custody with two other inmates: Avery Guidry, 19, and Travon Johnson, 21.
The four escaped police custody while participating in recreation time in the prison yard. Police said there was a faulty spot in the perimeter fence, in which the inmates maneuvered their way through a small opening.
According to a report by Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards, Guidry and Johnson were found hiding in a dumpster outside of a Dollar General Store Monday morning.
Johnson, Hookfin and Guidry were in jail for a 2022 killing while Cyprian was serving time for armed robbery and weapon charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
