(NewsNation) — One woman was killed and 12 others were injured in a shooting just after midnight Sunday at a Mississippi nightclub.
Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter Jr. is not yet naming the person who died but said she was a 20-year-old from Columbus, WTVA-TV reported.
No suspect had been arrested as of Monday morning following the shooting at Club Oasis in West Point. Club security chased a suspect into the woods, where they were able to escape, local media outlets reported. A gun was recovered at the scene.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said the dozen people injured are expected to live.
He told WCBI-TV the club was “immediately” shut down as it is now a crime scene.
