(NewsNation) — Bill Maher thinks President Joe Biden should ditch Vice President Kamala Harris if he decides to run for re-election in 2024.
“I like Kamala Harris, but she has not turned out to be a very good politician,” the political satirist and host of “Real Time with Bill Maher” told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo on Monday.
Maher didn’t have an opinion on who should replace Harris, but pointed out that changing VPs after one term is not unheard of.
The comedian — who identifies as a liberal but regularly criticizes both the left and right — had good things to say about the president’s performance thus far.
“He did wind up getting things done that nobody thought he could get done like having Congress work together on a number of really important bills,” he said.
Maher dismissed concerns about Biden’s age, suggesting that it has made him wiser and said he believes the current president will run for re-election.
That could set-up a rematch of 2020 between Biden and former President Donald Trump, who Maher expects will run again.
“Of course he (Trump) is going to run again…it’s everything he loves — it’s a fight, it’s revenge,” said Maher.
Although Trump would likely face a number of challengers within his own party, Maher thinks it will be difficult to deny him the nomination: “We know what kind of a gutter fighter he is when he gets into a scrap, good luck with that DeSantis.”
