LOS ANGELES (NewsNation) — Pop superstar Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom announced the birth of their baby, Daisy Dove Bloom Thursday via social media in partnership with the organization United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

UNICEF is a branch of the United Nations that focuses on humanitarian and developmental aid to children around the world.

Perry shared UNICEF’s Instagram post to her social pages, which depicted a black and white photo of the infant’s hand.

In a joint statement on UNICEF’s website, the couple shared, “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.”

Perry and Bloom expressed gratitude for a “peaceful” birth and highlighted that other parents are not as fortunate due to shortages in healthcare workers and access to resources that prevent diseases.

Both celebrities are Goodwill ambassadors and encouraged their fans to celebrate the birth of Daisy by donating to the organization.

“By supporting UNICEF, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your (heart) can bloom with generosity,” they said.

This is Perry’s first child. Bloom and ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, share son, Flynn, born in 2011.

Perry’s fifth major album “Smile” will be released Aug. 28.
