Nicki Minaj welcomes her first child

CHICAGO (NewsNation Now) — Nicki Minaj is now a mom. The rap star and her husband Kenneth Petty welcomed their baby on Wednesday in Los Angeles, according to People.

Minaj, 37, announced her pregnancy in July on Instagram with a series of photos baring her bump. She captioned one post #Preggers, and another that read: “Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes.”


Nicki claimed to retire from music last September in order to start a family. She tweeted her fans, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me. Love you for LIFE.”

Her wish for a family came true September 30.

The baby’s name and sex are unknown at this time.
