Travis Kelce lands role in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

(WJW) – Travis Kelce’s acting resume is about to get a lot more impressive.

Comedian Adam Sandler confirmed on the Tonight Show that the NFL star has landed a cameo appearance in his upcoming movie ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’

Sandler told Jimmy Fallon that the sequel to the 1996 comedy will begin filming in New Jersey in a “couple of weeks.” He didn’t give any hints as to what kind of role Kelce will play in the movie but said, “We have a nice something for Travis.”

“What a big, handsome guy, and well, funny,” said Sandler.

The original Happy Gilmore, where Sandler played a bad-tempered hockey player turned pro-golfer, is still known as one of his most popular movies. A sequel has been long-rumored.

“We worked hard on this script, man. We didn’t want to let anybody down,” said Sandler in his interview on the Tonight Show.

The sequel will be available on Netflix. The streaming giant has not yet revealed a release date.

Kelce currently produces a podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, where he first said he would be interested in a role in Happy Gilmore 2. He has also dipped his toe in other acting opportunities like joining the cast of “American Horror Story: Grotesquerie” and taking on the role as host of “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”
