Chicken nuggets pave the way for student’s campaign victory: ‘I love Dino Nugs’

SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One local politician at Sullivan Elementary School is keeping his promises one nugget at a time.

Sawyer Irvin had one goal in mind when running for student council president, bring Dino Nuggets to Sullivan Elementary School. The question on the minds of teachers and staff at the school was why Dino Nuggets?

“I was thinking, what could I do for my fellow SES students, and I said why not bring a food to them that they would love,” said Irvin.

Irvin said that their taste speaks for itself.

“I love dino nugs, so why wouldn’t everyone else,” added Irvin.

As word of this got out, Sodexo general manager Lynne Arnett pitched this idea to Tyson Foods. They loved the idea upon hearing it and got the ball rolling immediately.

Arnett says that this campaign is exactly the kind of input they love to receive.

“We want the kids to have a say in what they like in our cafeterias,” she said. “Of course, we have guidelines that we have to follow, but we just want the kids to have a say and we are very glad that we are able to provide that to them.”

Irvin’s fellow classmates and student council members said that the nuggets were an amazing pitch, but that is not the only reason this idea was a slam dunk.

“I enjoy it because I think that we can bring a lot to the kids at Sullivan Elementary School, and it truly means a lot to us,” said fellow student council member, Samuel Hakas.

Irvin kept it short and sweet when describing his love for this day.

“This is everything to me,” exclaimed Irvin.
