Watch: Kid steals Republican lawmaker’s thunder on House floor

Sparring lawmakers and made-for-TV moments in House hearings have nothing on Congress’s newest, adorable viral star: Rep. John Rose’s 6-year-old son.

The Tennessee Republican’s kindergarten graduate has won over political junkie fans and C-SPAN devotees with a tongue-filled display while his dad delivered remarks on the floor.

Rose’s son, Guy, could be seen mugging for the cameras on Monday as the congressman condemned former President Trump’s conviction last week in the New York hush money trial.

As Rose railed against a “politically driven prosecution,” Guy was eyed grinning broadly into the cameras.

At another point, as his dad was saying, “Regardless of one’s opinion of the current Republican nominee, we’d be well served to remember the long and cherished tradition we have in this country of settling our political differences at the ballot box,” Guy dramatically rolled his eyes and stuck out his tongue.

At other times while his dad spoke, Guy appeared ready for his close-up, wiggling and making silly shapes with his hands.

“This is what I get for telling my son Guy to smile at the camera for his little brother,” Rose quipped on social platform X.

ITK hears that Guy is at the Capitol after wrapping up his kindergarten school year.

And good news for those who can’t get enough of Guy: The youngster will be shadowing his dad in Congress all week as Rose aims to give his spouse a bit of child care relief. The congressman’s wife, Chelsea, works full time and is home in Tennessee with the couple’s 3-year-old son, Sam.
