CLEVELAND (NewsNation Now) — The Supreme Court took center stage as a 2020 debate topic, following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
President Donald Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to take the seat. Confirmation hearings are set to begin next month. Barrett was on Capitol Hill earlier on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers about the open position.
Democrats, including nominee Joe Biden, are fiercely opposing Barrett, who would replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a champion of gender equality and other liberal causes. She died on Sept. 18 at age 87.
Ginsburg was buried Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery in a private ceremony on Tuesday.

The presidential election is a little more than a month away, but many states have already begun voting.
