(NewsNation) — Lara Trump said she “didn’t know” Melania Trump planned to release a conspiracy video regarding the security during Donald Trump’s assassination attempt.
The former first lady said that “we need to uncover the truth” behind the July assassination attempt against her husband.
“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience,” the former first lady said in a clip posted Tuesday on her X account.
“Now, the silence around it feels heavy,” Trump said into the camera in a promotional video for her forthcoming memoir, “Melania.”
Lara Trump told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo that Melania “put that all out on her own.”
“No one seems to know who was at fault, and that is very frightening. … I don’t know why she put that out. But I think as a wife, she’s very concerned for her husband,” Lara Trump said.
Melania Trump had spoken out about the shooting that injured the 45th president a day after it happened, saying in a statement, “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change.”
“I am grateful to the brave Secret Service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband,” Trump said at the time.
In her video on Tuesday, Melania Trump indicated she was still searching for answers.
“There’s definitely more to this story,” she said.
