Michigan Democrat predicts Trump win if Biden is nominee

(NewsNation) — A Democratic candidate seeking a U.S. Senate seat from Michigan predicts that if President Joe Biden is his party’s nominee entering the November general election, Donald Trump will win another four years in the White House.

Nasser Beydoun, former executive director of the Arab American Chamber of Commerce, told “NewsNation Now” on Thursday that between 80 and 90% of Michigan Arab and Muslim residents would not support Biden if the election were held today.

Beydoun cited Biden’s response to the Israel-Hamas war and his allegiance to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as reasons for his lack of support from members of that community. He also called Biden’s executive order regarding violence on the West Bank “too little, too late.”

“I think (Biden is) going to be sadly disappointed with Benjamin Netanyahu, who has a history of stabbing people in the back,” Baydoun said. “And (Netanyahu) has stabbed this president many times in the back. The genocide that is happening in Gaza right now is all going to be to the detriment of Joe Biden winning the next election.”

Biden, who won Michigan in 2020, trails Trump in NewsNation/Decision Desk HQ polling, which shows the former president having the support of 44.9% of the state’s voters, while Biden has 41.8%.
