(NewsNation) — Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to address the nation Friday amid rumors he is dropping out of the race.
NewsNation political contributor Chris Hahn joined “NewsNation Now” to say that if Kennedy does drop out, it won’t be any more help to former President Donald Trump’s campaign than it will be to Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign, even if Kennedy throws his support behind Trump.
“The fact that Donald Trump had to campaign in North Carolina today is all you need to know,” Hahn said. “North Carolina is in play. I think Trump was wise to go there today, but I don’t think it’s going to help. I think what we’re looking at right now is a surge for Harris that if she can keep the energy of her party up for the next 75 days, she will be president of the United States.”
Former legal adviser to Trump May Mailman also joined “NewsNation Now,” where she said that she doesn’t think Trump’s campaign being in North Carolina means they’re worried.
“The Democrats are going to spend money there, they’re going to spend time there, and they always have,” Mailman said. “They spend tens of millions of dollars trying to win statewide and … in the past, it hasn’t worked, so I think that’s going to be the case again here.”
