Jackson says he didn’t talk to Trump about the shooting but observed him to be “completely unfazed by it, other than being really motivated and fired up. He’s completely normal. Jokin’ around and having fun with the staff.”
As for those around the former president: “The staff was still kind of shocked by what happened, you know, the adrenaline wears off at night, and you get up the next day and you realize the gravity of, you know, what’s taking place.”
Jackson, the White House physician during parts of the Trump and Obama administrations, also said his nephew is fine after he was slightly injured while attending the Trump rally.
“He’s doing great. He wasn’t seriously injured,” Jackson said. “Either the bullet or a fragment grazed his neck just enough for him to go get checked out in the medical tent.”
Jackson did not identify his nephew by name or specify their family relationship but added: “He’s shaken up a bit by what he saw, which I’m sure a lot of people were.”
