‘I don’t wish this upon anyone,’ says Trump rally good Samaritan

(NewsNation) — A Pennsylvania congressional candidate who witnessed the attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life said he rushed to aid the individual who was shot and died Saturday.

“I just hopped over (the barrier) and I ran up into the stands to see an individual who was there, laying facedown,” Rico Elmore said.

That victim, according to Elmore, was the only spectator killed in the attack. Trump and two others were injured in the shooting.

Elmore then began assisting others, including a woman who had passed out.

“I thought she might have been hit as well. But we were able to get her out of there. Another individual helped me on the other side (of the barrier). We picked her up, someone grabbed her feet, we ushered her out of there and we got her to medical personnel,” he said.

State Police have identified the person killed and people injured but are not prepared to release names, State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said.

The FBI named Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the subject involved in the assassination attempt. The agency said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
