Where is Trump after assassination attempt?

(NewsNation) — Following the most serious attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan, former President Donald Trump arrived in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention.

A post from Trump’s son, Eric, shows the view from their cockpit as the former president and family landed in Milwaukee, saying: “#TrumpForce1“.

NewsNation’s Libbey Dean spoke with former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy outside of the former president’s hotel in Wisconsin. McCarthy, along with a heavy Secret Service presence, said Trump was “feeling good” and “excited to get everyone together.”

Immediately following the shooting Trump was taken to a local Pennsylvania hospital before flying to New Jersey, landing shortly after midnight at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Video posted by an aide showed the former president deplaning his private jet flanked by U.S. Secret Service agents and heavily armed members of the agency’s counter-assault team, an unusually visible show of force by his protective detail.

Trump’s campaign said the presumptive GOP nominee was doing “fine” after the shooting, which he said pierced the upper part of his right ear.

“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place,” he wrote on his social media site.

“Based on yesterday’s terrible events, I was going to delay my trip to Wisconsin, and The Republican National Convention, by two days, but have just decided that I cannot allow a “shooter,” or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else. Therefore, I will be leaving for Milwaukee, as scheduled, at 3:30 P.M. TODAY. Thank you! DJT,” he posted to social media.

President Joe Biden briefly addressed the nation Sunday afternoon after a Situation Room briefing about the shooting.
