(NewsNation) — Social media platform X reinstated the “White Dudes for Harris” account after briefly suspending it minutes after a fundraising event raised $4 million for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign

The account, which is not affiliated with the Harris campaign, was reinstated Tuesday. During its suspension, organizers Mike Nellis and Ross Morales Rocketto accused X owner Elon Musk of getting “scared” of the group’s success.

The reasons for the suspension are still unknown. Still, many users were calling it election interference by the social media platform, especially since Musk has been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump and endorsed him after the assassination attempt against Trump.

A series of organized Zoom calls are raising money and connecting supporters for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, and one such call Monday was built around “White Dudes for Harris.” It had more than 120,000 RSVPs, according to meeting organizer Brad Bauman.

The Zoom calls haven’t been organized by Harris’ team, but her campaign welcomes the assist — and the millions of dollars in fundraising.

On Tuesday, Nellis thanked supporters for putting pressure on Musk and X to reinstate the account. The “White Dudes for Harris” account also celebrated its return to the platform with a post.

“WE ARE SO BACK!” the post read. “Thank you for coming to our aid & carrying on this conversation in our absence.”
