Decision Desk: It’s possible night ends with Democrats holding House, Senate

A night that started with thoughts of a red wave is concluding with control of both the Senate and House still up in the air. Scott Tranter, adviser to Decision Desk HQ, said it won’t be possible to call the House of Representatives for either party overnight.

That statement alone is telling. Republicans were an overwhelming favorite to take control of the House – Decision Desk HQ gave the GOP an 80% chance. Decision Desk also gave Republicans a 57% chance to take the Senate on Monday.

Tranter told NewsNation’s Leland Vittert overnight it was possible now that Democrats could hold both the Senate and the House (though it remains likely that the GOP wins the House).

Tranter said the Republicans didn’t win many of the races they were expected to take from the Democrats in the House.
