MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A Memphis man is being charged with making death threats against President Joseph Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Barack Obama, according to the Department of Justice.

Kyl Alton Hall, 37, is charged with two counts of threats to a sitting president and vice president and one count of a threat to a former president.

On July 27, the DOJ says that Hall made several posts on “X”, a social media platform formerly known as Twitter, threatening to “kill, assassinate, shoot, and crash the plane of President Biden, assassinate Vice President Harris, and assassinate former President Obama”.

On August 20, a federal indictment was returned. If Hall is found guilty, each charge may carry a penalty of up to five years in jail.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Will Crow of the National Security and Civil Rights Unit in the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
