(NewsNation) — As the 2024 election nears, the Biden campaign is focusing on winning some key endorsements.
The New York Times published an article explaining how “The biggest and most influential endorsement target is Ms. Swift, 34, the pop sensation and N.F.L. enthusiast, who can move millions of supporters with an Instagram post or a mid-concert aside.
“She endorsed Mr. Biden in 2020 and, last year, a single Instagram post of hers led to 35,000 new voter registrations. Fund-raising appeals from Ms. Swift could be worth millions of dollars for Mr. Biden,” The Times reported.
Swift “definitely has an impact on younger voters, which he needs. I don’t know whether or not she’ll get behind him,” NewsNation Washington correspondent Kellie Meyer said during a conversation with “The Hill” panel.
Political analyst Chris Stirewalt disagreed that Swift will make an impact and said that celebrity endorsements in politics “don’t work.”
“You suck up to these celebrities … Nobody is following Swift to the polls. That’s not how that works. … Obama had endorsements because they were coming to him,” Stirewalt said.
