(NewsNation) — Members of the Trump family are speaking out following the attempted assassination of the former president and presumptive 2024 Republican nominee.

“When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband Donald I realized my life and Barron’s life were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband,” a statement from former first lady Melania Trump read in part.

Donald Trump Jr., the former president’s eldest son, posted the image of his father, bloodied and with his fist in the air with the comment: “He’ll never stop fighting to Save America.”

Ivanka Trump, the president’s second daughter with his first wife, Ivana, also said she was grateful for the Secret Service following the shooting.

“Thank you for your love and prayers for my father and for the other victims of today’s senseless violence in Butler, Pennsylvania. I am grateful to the Secret Service and all the other law enforcement officers for their quick and decisive actions today,” she wrote. “I continue to pray for our country. I love you Dad, today and always.”
