Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) appeared Tuesday before a House Oversight subcommittee to respond to allegations that his office underreported the number of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes during the pandemic.
The House Oversight and Accountability Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic alleged that New York State’s policy at the time for admission of COVID-infected residents put patients at risk.
Cuomo has strongly objected to the charges, and a spokesperson for the former governor accused the subcommittee of acting in bad faith.
