Maxx Crosby Sounds Off On Critics

There have been opinions of all sorts on the Las Vegas Raiders' decision to hire Coach Antonio Pierce. Veteran defensive lineman Maxx Crosby responded.

The Las Vegas Raiders have had arguably one of the most publicized head coaching searches in the National Football League this season and offseason. A few weeks after the season ended, the Raiders officially named Pierce their head coach.

Some have suggested that in a division with coaches like Andy Reid, Sean Payton, and Jim Harbaugh, the Raiders have the worst head coach in the AFC West. Veteran defensive lineman Maxx Crosby isn't buying it.

“I mean, it’s just a narrative at the end of the day,” Crosby said on the Rich Eisen show. “There are 31 teams, and there’s one Raiders. They said the same thing last year going in, and we ended up being 4-2 in the division, so at the end of the day, we’re ready for all that,"

"We’re excited. We got a ton of work to do; we got a lot of pieces that are going to be added as well, and that’s what we want to do. To be the best, you gotta beat the best, so at the end of the day, we’re ready for anything that’s coming our way.”

“It’s a team thing. Pat Graham, A.P. [Antonio Pierce], myself, Robert Spillane, Nate Hobbs, Jack Jones, guys like that are trying to be great at what they do,” Crosby said

“It’s not like some flash in the pan. We didn’t do it for a couple of weeks; we did it for nine weeks. We have a lot of great pieces. And I know we’re going to bring in more great pieces."

"So we’re going to have more ammo. We’re excited; we’re going to continue to build on what we started, and we have a lot to prove," Crosby said.

"And we’re excited to get to work. I know guys are already working. We’re looking forward to getting back out there and further establishing ourselves as one of the most dominant defenses in football.”

After nine games of the Raiders looking like a completely different team under Pierce, the new leader of the Raiders has continued to take slight after slight from those outside of the organization.

Between the disrespect Pierce has gotten this season and Crosby being disrespected by not receiving a single vote for the Defensive Player of the Year award, Crosby is correct. They all still have much to prove next season.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
