Police: Migrant killed along train tracks

Chihuahua police cordon off an area surrounding railroad tracks where a man, presumably a migrant headed to the border, was killed.

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Police in Chihuahua, Mexico, are investigating the death of a man who fell off or was struck by a cargo train headed to the border on Sunday.

The body of the man in his 20s was recovered near train tracks in the 2 de Junio neighborhood on the northern outskirts of the city. The body had visible injuries and was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The victim was carrying a backpack; a soda bottle filled with water could be seen within reach.

The body of a man lies next to railroad tracks on the outskirts of Chihuahua City, where police believe the man fell from a train and died.

Officers at the scene told reporters the victim was likely a migrant who fell off the train or was struck by it.

Migrants by the hundreds have been arriving on and off to Chihuahua City, about 230 miles south of El Paso, Texas, for the past several months. Many are seen walking or hitching rides to the border city of Juarez or staying in makeshift camps in Chihuahua.
