Train derailment reported in North Little Rock

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – North Little Rock city officials have confirmed a train derailment Thursday morning in Arkansas.

Officials with Union Pacific said the derailment happened as the train left the railyard near the intersection of W. 13th Street and N. Orange Street around 7:45 a.m. The derailment left 14 cars overturned, including tankers.


All intersections, except for 13th and Main, are open. Officials with Union Pacific said crews are working to clean the area, and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Officials said that the crash did not include hazardous materials and no injuries were reported. The cause of the derailment is unknown.

Traffic officials have not released any additional information on the incident.
