Memphis mother of 3 has SNAP benefits stolen twice

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Falesia Green, a mother of three, is struggling to feed her children after falling victim to SNAP benefit theft – twice.

The first incident a few months ago saw hundreds of dollars spent in a New York store, a location she’s never visited.

Wednesday morning, history repeated itself. Falicia woke up to find her funds spent in Jamaica, another place she’s never been to.

“I checked my balance like at 5:30 this morning and they had swiped it at five different locations in Jamaica,” she said. “It added up to like $800, $900.”

Despite reporting it, she’s still waiting for reimbursement after being put on hold by authorities.
“Now they got two thousand from me, and it’s another waiting game,” she said. “So I was like, why do I have to wait and you already know I ain’t in Jamaica New York at 2 o’clock this morning? Like come on now.”

Online research revealed numerous victims facing identical issues, with identical amounts stolen from the same companies. She shared screenshots of the suspicious transactions with us.

The investigation continues, but for Falicia, time is running out.

We reached out to local authorities and SNAP administrators for comment. So far, no response.
