Disruptions caused by Friday’s global tech outage continue with airlines playing the biggest catchup game after they were forced to cancel thousands of flights.
Chicago area students on an educational trip to Puerto Rico are among those stranded because of the global glitch.
Twenty students from the south suburbs were part of the Gloria J Taylor Foundation trip to San Juran. The high school and college students embarked on the global leadership trip Monday and were supposed to arrive home Friday.
One Friday, a faulty software update from cyber security firm CrowdStrike caused the massive IT outage and ground stoppages at airports were issued. Flights resumed but the disruptions continued.
The Gloria J Taylor Foundation has spent thousands of dollars to make sure the students have food and safe places to stay. The group was told they may not be able to get home until early next week.
