COLUMBUS, Ohio (NewsNation) – An Ohio State University football player was shot in the face near campus early Sunday morning, police said.
The Columbus Division of Police officers found a trail of blood and one shell casing near the 400 block of Chittenden Avenue around 12:28 a.m. ET, NewsNation affiliate WCMH reported.
The trail led officers to the 40 block of East 11th Avenue, where they found 22-year-old Haskell Garrett.
Garrett, a senior from Las Vegas, is a defensive lineman for the Buckeyes.
Police say the student-athlete was shot in the cheeks of his face. Garrett was transported to the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in stable condition.
