HonorAir Knoxville Flight 35 carries women veterans to Washington, D.C.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Women who served in the United States Armed Forces are set to take off from McGhee Tyson Airport early Wednesday for the HonorAir Knoxville Flight 35.
Flight 35 left Knoxville around 9 a.m. with more than 130 East Tennessee veterans to visit the memorials built to honor their service and sacrifice. 6 News’ Lori Tucker joined this year’s flight and will share updates throughout the trip on WATE’s Instagram.
The veterans returned to Knoxville Wednesday evening, where they were welcomed back with cheering crowds and smiling faces. The public was invited to welcome them home.
Since October 2007 HonorAir has taken 34 flights and thousands of East Tennessee veterans to Washington, D.C.
