Charlotte beer hall bans customer seen on video drinking directly from tap

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (NewsNation) — A beer hall in Charlotte’s South End neighborhood permanently banned a customer after they were caught on camera drinking directly from a tap on Saturday night.

The video surfaced in a post on a Charlotte Reddit page and shows a woman drinking from the beer tap at Hoppin’, a South End drinking establishment.

The video was posted on Sunday.

“Last night an incident took place at Hoppin’ that was completely unacceptable, not indicative of how we run our establishment, and will not be tolerated,” Hoppin said in a statement. “The individual responsible for the incident has since been permanently banned from Hoppin’.”

The beer hall said they will be closed Sunday to spend time with staff and ensure everything is sanitized.

“This is why we can’t have nice things,” said a Reddit user who posted the video on the page.

In the video, the customer does appear to be wearing a mask around her neck.

North Carolina is under a statewide 11 p.m. alcohol curfew. That is set to expire on Monday.
