Lightning strike kills 1, injures 9 soldiers in Georgia

(NewsNation) — A lightning strike killed one solider and left nine injured at Fort Gordon military base in Georgia Wednesday morning, according to reporting by NewsNation affiliate WJBF.

The name of the soldier will not be released until family is notified, officials said.


Officials told WJBF lightning struck the military post at 11:10 a.m., killing one and injuring nine soldiers in a training area.

The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time, according to WJBF.
