Mother of deceased TN toddler Evelyn Boswell charged with felony murder

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (NewsNation) — Megan Boswell, the mother of toddler Evelyn whose body was found earlier this year, has been charged with 2 counts of felony murder in Evelyn’s death, Sullivan County Attorney General Barry Staubus announced Wednesday.
A Sullivan County grand jury returned 19 counts against Boswell. The indictment includes:
— Two counts of felony murder — One count of aggravated child abuse — One count of aggravated child neglect — One count of tampering with evidence — One count of abuse of corpse — One count of failure to report a death under suspicious, unusual, or unnatural circumstances — 12 counts of false reports
The 15-month-old girl was reported missing in February by her grandfather Tommy Boswell Sr., who said the family had not seen Evelyn since before Christmas. According to police, the baby’s mother, Megan Boswell, repeatedly changed her story about who had custody of Evelyn.
An AMBER Alert was issued for Evelyn in February after she was reported missing. Five days later, Evelyn’s mother Megan spoke to NewsNation affiliate WJHL in an on-camera interview, where she claimed she had told TBI she knew where her daughter was and relayed that information to authorities.
On March 6 authorities recovered the toddler’s remains on the property owned by the Boswell family in Blountville where the mother and child had been living at the residence.
Megan Boswell remains in Sullivan County Jail on a 1 million dollar bond.
