Worker gets new nickname after alligator recovery near school

CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—Caddo Animal Services in Louisiana responded to reports of an alligator outside an elementary school.

A parish official said a call came in Monday afternoon from Riverside Elementary about an alligator spotted in the drainage ditch at Riverside Elementary School.

The Caddo Animal Services team responded, along with Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries and Shreveport police. Using proper precautions, they restrained the alligator and relocated it back to the wild in Minden.

The Assistant Director of Animal Services, Kelvin Samuel, is seen in the photos, looking like Crocodile Dundee, safely restraining the alligator. Parish officials said that is his new nickname.
