AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott announced a $10,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest in connection with a 90-year-old Navy veteran who was allegedly murdered in Houston over the weekend, Abbott’s office said in a news release.
Crime Stoppers is offering its own reward of $5,000. Including the state reward, that brings the amount up to $15,000, the release said.
Tipsters who are eligible for a cash reward should either call the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477) or can submit a tip on the Texas Department of Public Safety website.
Anyone submitting the tip can do so anonymously, and “tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name,” the release said.
“Cecilia and I are deeply saddened to hear of the murder of 90-year-old Navy veteran Nelson Beckett in Houston,” Abbott said in the release. “Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones, and the entire Houston community during this difficult time.”
