TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (NewsNation Now) — University of Alabama football head coach Nick Saban has tested positive for coronavirus, the university said Wednesday. This is the second time Saban has tested positive for the virus after previously testing positive in October.
The university said Saban has very mild symptoms and will isolate at home.
The football team released the following statement:
“This morning we received notification that Coach Saban tested positive for COVID-19. He has very mild symptoms, so this test will not be categorized as a potential false positive. He will follow all appropriate guidelines and isolate at home.”

Saban’s previous test in October was declared a false-positive after he received three negative tests in a row shortly after. Saban was cleared by the Southeastern Conference to coach in a game days later.
Alabama is undefeated and was just named the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday. The team is set to play the University of Auburn Saturday in the Iron Bowl.
