(NewsNation) — After an international sporting court rejected an appeal by Team USA on Monday to award gymnast Jordan Chiles a bronze medal she earned, rapper Flavor Flav has offered Chiles a custom bronze clock necklace in its place.
After Chiles’s floor event final routine last Monday, Team USA coach Cecil Landi appealed to have 0.1 added to Chiles’s score to reflect the correct difficulty level. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled Landi’s appeal came 4 seconds outside the one-minute window granted by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
Rapper Flavor Flav, who recently signed a five-year contract to be the official hype man for the U.S. Olympic women’s water polo team, said on X that he would make Chiles a custom bronze clock necklace similar to those he wears.
Following the rejection of Team USA’s appeal where they offered a video proving the original appeal was made within the 60-second window, Flavor Flav posted on X again. This time, he posted a video of the bronze clock he had promised.
USA Gymnastics said in a statement that they are “deeply disappointed” by the decision by the CAS.
“We will continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal, to ensure the just scoring, placement, and medal award for Jordan,” the statement said.
