(NewsNation) — The Baltimore Orioles will hold a moment of silence during Thursday’s home opener to honor the victims and their families of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse and the emergency personnel who responded to the scene, the MLB announced.
Additionally, an American flag will be lowered from the batter’s eye” section of the stadium during the national anthem, which the Morgan State University Choir will perform.
“The flag is a replica of the one that flew over Fort McHenry when Francis Scott Key wrote the ‘Star-Spangled Banner,'” the MLB said.
The Orioles canceled Tuesday night’s workout and rally for fans in the wake of the bridge collapse, WBFF reported.
“Baltimore, we’re a tight-knit and resilient community. Together we will get through this,” the team wrote on X, formally known as Twitter.
The Orioles will host the Los Angeles Angels at Oriole Park at 3:05 p.m. Thursday.
