WASHINGTON (NewsNation Now ) — Hundreds of supporters of President Donald Trump swarmed the U.S. Capitol Wednesday, forcing the building into lockdown. Four people died. As a result, Congress was forced to abruptly stop deliberations to confirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
Demonstrators were protesting the joint session to confirm Biden’s victory in the Electoral College. The typically a routine proceeding, required by law, was anything but ordinary. The president’s Republican allies planned to object to several states’ election results. Many say they are heeding the pleas of the president’s supporters to “Fight for Trump.”
