(KRON)  – It’s spooky season, and Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, named two Bay Area hotels ‘America’s Most Haunted’ of 2024.

Do not let the luxury 4-star hotel fool you. The Claremont Club & Spa in Berkeley may have a reputation for its luxurious accommodations and amazing views, but the 22-acre resort is also known for spine-chilling unexplainable occurrences.

According to the Historic Hotels of America, The Claremont Club guests have reportedly experienced ghostly phenomena, such as phantom elevators and eerie voices.

Particularly on the fourth floor, where the guests have reportedly had chilling encounters — literally. Historic Hotels said visitors experienced “extreme temperature changes in rooms” and cold spots in rooms.

It is rumored that a 6-year-old girl haunts the halls. The ghost is said to be “peaceful” but will greet guests at night by reaching out and saying, “Hello,” according to the report.

The other hotel to make the most haunted list is also opulent. The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is a 5-star resort in Wine Country with reputedly multiple ghosts with an extended stay.

The Historic Hotels of America said visitors of this hotel have reported they do not feel alone at night. The group states guests heard “doors slam, catching sight of something out of the corner of their eye, or seeing something run down the hall and around the corner.”

Historic Hotels said The Fairmount’s The Round Room may be the most haunted hotel room in all of the state. According to the report, guests described paranormal activity in The Round Room, including “flickering lights, unexplained noises, shadowy figures and running water.”

Per Historic Hotels, another California hotel where guests may experience unnerving supernatural phenomena is Hotel del Coronado in San Diego.
