Suspect in custody after shooting at Los Angeles police station

LOS ANGELES (NewsNation Now) — A suspect is in custody and an officer is injured after a shooting at a Los Angeles police station late Saturday, the police department said.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed in a statement on Twitter that a shooting occurred at its Harbor Station. A suspect was taken into custody and the shooting is under investigation, according to police.


“The officer involved in this incident was transported to a local hospital and is receiving medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries,” the department said.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Michel Moore both said on Twitter that that the officer was in stable condition. Chief Moore added that the officer was not shot, but does have “bumps and bruises” and is resting.

“Sending my best wishes for a quick and full recovery to our (Los Angeles Police Department) officer injured in an incident at the Harbor Station tonight,” Garcetti wrote.

Police haven’t provided any further details about the shooting, as of early Sunday.
