Sheboygan Police Department

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WFRV) – Sheboygan police have arrested a man who was allegedly selling convenience store gift cards door-to-door, but the cards turned out to be used or expired. Police say the man claimed the money was going to his son’s Little League team.

A Facebook post from the Sheboygan Police Department on the afternoon of July 11 asked the public for help identifying the suspect who was accused of selling $20 gift cards from the Kwik Trip convenience store chain.

The release also noted that officers believed the suspect’s son was with the man while he was reportedly selling the gift cards.

A resident, who bought a $20 gift card from the man, later discovered that it was old and had already been used.

Due to a similar incident reported in Beaver Dam, officers provided the following warning:

If you are asked to buy gift cards as part of a door-to-door fundraiser, be aware and always make sure the person selling them can provide proper documentation about their organization.
