(NewsNation) — NewsNation’s Laura Ingle wants to know why Keith Jesperson, the so-called “Happy Face Killer,” sent her four colorful portraits of The Beatles.
Ingle was sent four large, colorful drawings of The Beatles — individual portraits of John, Paul, George and Ringo. Each was signed and included the date Jesperson drew them, his inmate number and “OSP” for Oregon State Penitentiary.
Dr. Katherine Ramsland, a forensic psychologist who has spent decades researching serial killers, said Jesperson likely just “wants attention.”
“He wants to keep a hook with you,” Ramsland told Ingle on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.” “(Jesperson wants) some communication, affirmation from you that you’re enjoying these. And that keeps him attuned to what you’re doing. And you attuned to what he’s doing.”
In addition to Ingle, NewsNation’s Ashleigh Banfield has also received notes from Jesperson.
While Jesperson is serving three consecutive life sentences in Oregon, he was also convicted of another killing in California and was confirmed to be responsible for four other deaths. Jesperson, however, has claimed to have killed nearly 200 people from 1990 to 1995 in six states.
