Florida hospital prepares to evacuate patients due to Milton flooding

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Pinellas County officials confirmed Thursday morning they were preparing to evacuate as many as 200 patients at HCA Florida Largo Hospital due to flooding the in the facility’s basement. As of 5:30 a.m., no active evacuations were underway. Emergency crews were in place and on standby, preparing for the possibility of evacuating patients if conditions worsen.

Flooding, caused by heavy rainfall rather than storm surge, prompted the call to emergency responders.


Pinellas County authorities are in communication with the hospital, awaiting further updates and preparing for the next steps if evacuations become necessary.
