STOCKHOLM (NewsNation Now) — Americans Paul R. Milgrom and Robert B. Wilson may have won the Nobel Prize in economics for “improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats,” but the internet was abuzz about the pair Monday for a different reason.

According to Stanford University, when the Nobel Prize committee couldn’t reach Milgrom to share the news that he won, his neighbor — and fellow winner — knocked on his door at 2:15 a.m. to give him the good news.

And it was all captured on Milgrom’s home security camera.

In the video, Wilson can be seen walking up to Milgrom’s door, knocking and ringing several times before finally hearing Milgrom’s voice.

“Paul, it’s Bob Wilson.”

“Yeah?” responds Milgrom.

“You’ve won the Nobel Prize,” says Wilson. “And so they’re trying to reach you, but they cannot. They don’t seem to have a number for you.”

Milgrom’s wife, who was in Stockholm, received a security-camera notification on her phone. She got to watch live as Wilson told Milgrom he’d won the Nobel Prize, according to Stanford University.

The winners were announced Monday in Stockholm by Goran Hansson, secretary-general of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
