The charges: Hunter Biden faces three felonies stemming from a 2018 firearm purchase when he was, according to his memoir, in the throes of a crack addiction. He has been accused of lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, making a false claim on the application used to screen firearms applicants when he said he was not a drug user, and illegally having the gun for 11 days. What’s going on: An Italian court has reconvicted Amanda Knox of slander after she was exonerated in the 2007 murder of her British roommate while the two were exchange students in Italy. On Wednesday, the court found Knox had wrongly accused an innocent man, the owner of the bar where she worked part time, of the killing. Cartel scam: A veteran looking to unload an unused timeshare became entangled in a massive scam orchestrated by a powerful Mexican cartel that cost him nearly $1 million. The retired law enforcement officer and veteran told AARP that the simple call asking if he wanted to sell his timeshare ended up costing him almost $900,000 and months of harassment from the Jalisco New Generation cartel. Border action: President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced a series of executive actions that would limit the flow of migrant illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border. Biden said he was using executive powers to do what Congress did not, referencing the failure of a bipartisan immigration deal that failed in the Senate twice. Read more > 

What’s new: The changes from the executive actions will allow the Biden administration to close the border between legal ports of entry, meaning border agents could turn away asylum-seekers if crossings surpass a certain number per day. Migrant encounters: According to Customs and Border Protection, there were 179,725 encounters by Border Patrol agents along the southern border in April, which averages 5,991 encounters per day. Family speaks out: Mica Miller’s family is calling for more investigations into her death, which came as she was pursuing a divorce from her husband, John-Paul Miller, a South Carolina pastor. Hamas kidnapped Shani Segal’s husband Yagev Buchshtav and cousin Rimon Kirsht during the Oct. 7 attack on Israel. What’s happening: Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces multiple sexual assault allegations, has sold his majority stake in media company Revolt. Combs founded the company in 2013 as a music-oriented cable channel. The company said its employees will now be its majority shareholders.
