MARION, Mass. (NewsNation) — Firefighters conducted a dramatic rescue of two horses stuck in mud in a coastal town in southeastern Massachusetts on Sunday.
The Marion Fire Department said firefighters spent three hours freeing the horses. The animals were caught in mud up to their necks.
The fire department shared photos of the rescue on Facebook, showing some members attempting to dig the horses out while others pulled.
Both horses were eventually removed from the mud.
“We are happy to say that both horses are recovering and well,” the department said on Facebook. “Special thanks to all the members of the department who worked tirelessly in this effort.”
